Al Capone's rise started when he was recruited by Johnny Torrio to move to Chicago. Torrio moved to Chicago because he was being recruited by Big Jim Colosimo who was a notorious mob boss in Chicago. Big Jim Colosimo was big in prostitution, racketeering, and gambling in Chicago. He recruited Al Capone to become a bouncer at his prostitution houses and to help Jim Torrio. Jim Torrio and Big Jim where partners and Torrio had big plans for the mob where Big Jim thought he had enough money to stay still. After prohibition started Torrio saw big profit in it and wanted to start bootlegging when Colosimo did not want to do this because he thought he was making enough money as it was. Torrio plotted while Jim was getting married to his second wife, so when Jim got back Torrio said there was a package waiting for him and when he went to go get it he was shot and killed. Some people believed that Al Capone is the one who pulled the trigger. This was the beginning of Torrio's head of the Mob, and also a promotion for Al Capone as he became the right hand man. The business expanded an began to be a threat to the other crime syndicates and bootleggers so Torrio was shot multiple times while coming home from shopping. After Torrio recovered from his wounds he resigned and this was the rise of Al Capone as he became the leader of the mob where he took over the city using extremely violent ways to do it.
